Waste disposal platforms

Current legislation requires packaging manufacturers to identify collection points for the disposal of used packaging, in agreement with the businesses that use the packaging.
In short, at an operational level, this collaboration between packaging manufacturers and users means that users are responsible for collecting the waste and transporting it to the designated platform, while manufacturers remain responsible for the subsequent recovery of the material.

With this in mind, Comieco, Corepla and Rilegno, under a specific agreement, have established a nationwide network of platforms that can receive packaging waste free of charge from industrial, commercial, craft and service businesses, as an alternative to the public collection service or other services provided by private operators.
These platforms should not be confused with the platforms where the Packaging Material Consortia collect packaging waste from separate collection under the ANCI–CONAI Framework Agreement (although in some cases they may coincide).
To date, more than 500 platforms across the country participate in this network.

In addition, under an agreement between CONAI, Corepla, RICREA, Rilegno, and companies operating in the cleaning and recycling of steel drums, cages and multi-material tanks, support is also provided for a network of platforms dedicated to the cleaning and regeneration of such rigid industrial packaging. To date, more than 30 facilities have joined this network.
