The award dedicated by the National Packaging Consortium to journalists aged 45 and under who have covered environmental, sustainability and recycling topics.
Entries are free of charge and open for written articles and audiovisual reports, with Earth Day (celebrated every year on 22 April) marking the eligibility cut‑off: articles must have been published between 22 April of the previous year and 21 April of the competition year.
The CONAI Phoenix Award for Young Environmental Journalism has always been sponsored by the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security and by the Order of Journalists.
The two winners, one for the audiovisual category and one for the written category, are awarded in Urbino during the Festival of Cultural Journalism, the main partner of the award.
The statuette awarded is, naturally, the CONAI Phoenix: designed by two students from the School of Design of the Polytechnic University of Milan, it is made of chrome‑plated metal subjected to a galvanic process and mounted on a base of volcanic stone.
