For many years, CONAI has brought the theme of the circular economy to the Giffoni Film Festival, engaging directly with younger generations through one of the mediums that resonates most strongly with them: cinema.
CONAI’s presence at the leading film festival for young people takes the form of initiatives designed to raise awareness among young audiences and families about the value of sustainability and recycling. Each project is accompanied by meetings and opportunities for discussion with the festival’s young jurors, explaining in simple and straightforward terms how waste can become a resource.
Since 2023, one of the central elements of the Consortium’s participation has also been the awarding of the CONAI Phoenix Prize to the film that best addresses environmental issues and the protection of the planet – a recognition that highlights works capable of portraying the relationship between people, nature and environmental responsibility.
This is one way of helping to make the festival a space for environmental education, where cinema serves as a tool for raising awareness.
