Local communication projects

CONAI pays particular attention to local communication projects, especially those accompanying the introduction of new separate collection systems for packaging waste. Financial resources are available to support local communication campaigns for municipalities facing challenges in quantitative performance or undertaking efforts to improve collection quality.

Two separate tools support local communication activities: Local Projects (see next page) and the ANCI–CONAI Call for Local Communication Projects. Through the Call for Local Communication Projects, municipalities (individually or in association), government bodies and/or waste service managers appointed by them can obtain co-financing in order to implement local communication projects that they have developed. The Call is published annually and contains all the instructions for submitting applications, which must be submitted via a dedicated web portal. Projects received are assessed and ranked according to predefined awarding criteria, and co‑financing is granted until the allocated budget has been exhausted.
