In 2024, Italy recycled 76.7% of the packaging placed on the market – around 10.7 million tonnes out of a total of over 13.95 million tonnes. This marks an increase of about one percentage point compared to 2023, when the amount of recycled packaging was just under 10.5 million tonnes.
Milan, July 2019 – In Italy, in 2018, 80.6% of packaging waste was recovered: 10.691 million tons of the total 13.267 million rput on the market. Of these, the part started to recycle reaches 70%. They are the first, fundamental elements of the photography of an ever greener Italy taken by CONAI – National Packaging Consortium: more than four packagings out of five are removed from the landfill.
In Italy, in 2018 78.6% of steel packaging was recycled, 80.2% of aluminum packaging, 81.1% of paper packaging, 63.4% of wooden packaging, the 44.5% of those in plastic and 76.3% of those in glass.
More than 57 million inhabitants served thanks to the ANCI-CONAI Framework Agreement for the collection of waste: a service for which CONAI transferred 561 million euros to Italian municipalities. President Quagliuolo: “Italy is the European leader in packaging waste management”.
